‘YG’s New Girl Group’ CHANYA Drops Live Performance Clip… YANG HYUN SUK Says “I Almost Cried”
The second trainee revealed in YG Entertainment’s 4-member new girl group project, YG NEXT MONSTER, has stepped into the spotlight, it’s CHANYA.
On June 16, YG Entertainment uploaded a video titled YG NEXT MONSTER | CHANYA – ‘the grudge’ on its official blog. Just like the debut reveal of EVELLI, this performance clip was filmed during a monthly evaluation. With no flashy stage setup or special effects, the focus is entirely on CHANYA’s raw vocal skills.
At just 14 years old, her vocal prowess and emotional delivery are almost unbelievable, drawing admiration. Her soulful tone gently rides the calm melody and leaves a deep impression. Her eyes and facial expressions, immersed in the music and amplifying the melancholy, make it hard to look away even for a moment.
As the highlight unfolds, her high notes pour out in a thrilling rush, releasing all the pent-up energy and giving viewers goosebumps. Especially noteworthy was the comment from YANG HYUN SUK, Executive Producer of YG, who shared after the performance that he “almost cried,” capturing the emotional depth of the moment and the atmosphere in the room.
YG has confirmed that the new girl group will consist of four members and is gradually revealing them through the ongoing YG NEXT MONSTER project. Following the buzz generated by EVELLI, CHANYA’s overwhelming talent is adding to the excitement, raising expectations for what’s being called a ‘monster rookie’ group from fans worldwide.
EVELLI’s rap video has already surpassed 19 million views on YouTube, with her dance performance video crossing 7 million. Despite being just pre-debut evaluation clips, the combined 26 million views signal explosive interest. With CHANYA now receiving praise as well, anticipation for YG’s next 4-member girl group is only intensifying.
At the end of the video, a message revealed that the remaining two members of the group will be unveiled around the end of the year. According to YG, this schedule aligns with YANG HYUN SUK’s strategic plan, to shift focus toward BLACKPINK’s upcoming comeback and BABYMONSTER’s promotions, starting with their pre-release single “HOT SAUCE” on July 1 and continuing throughout the rest of the year.
