BLACKPINK’s Overwhelming Popularity in China: Early Merchandise Sell-Outs → Landmark Lights Up in Pink

2025.08.21

BLACKPINK showcased overwhelming popularity by successfully holding pop-up stores in China.

According to YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK has been meeting fans through the ‘BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR POP-UP STORE’, sequentially opened in five major Chinese cities, starting with Shanghai on August 2, followed by Shenzhen, Wuhan, Chengdu on August 3, and Beijing on August 5. These pop-ups were held in large shopping malls located in bustling downtown areas with high foot traffic.

In particular, the Shanghai pop-up is being held on the first floor of the multi-complex shopping mall ‘Jingan Joy City’, in a space of approximately 500㎡, making it the largest among the five cities. Despite allowing entry only through advance reservations of 1,500 people per day in anticipation of weekend crowds, additional visitors still gathered on-site, drawing explosive attention.

Even on weekdays, a wide range of fans, including students and people of all ages and genders, have been visiting. In Wuhan and Chengdu, where no reservation system was implemented, the queues extended beyond the department stores and continued outside, forming massive crowds.

While concert MD, official merchandise, and albums are being displayed and sold, items such as BLACKPINK lightsticks, character keyrings, handheld fans, cameras, tote bags, hats, and T-shirts sold out immediately upon the pop-up’s opening. Additional orders have been placed, and pre-orders are also underway.

In addition, fans have been enjoying various interactive features such as photo zones reminiscent of the current world tour trailers, and a large message wall where they can leave handwritten messages for the members. The pop-up stores in each city will continue until August 31.

On August 8, BLACKPINK’s 9th debut anniversary, a special event was held. The LED billboard on the rooftop Ferris wheel of JOY CITY, a landmark in Shanghai, was lit up with BLACKPINK’s logo and signature pink color, illuminating the night sky and delighting fans.

Meanwhile, YG Entertainment continues to expand the reach of its artists in China, including BLACKPINK and TREASURE, by increasing local fan engagements. At the end of this month, BABYMONSTER will hold their own pop-up, introducing various types of events.
